Eyal Yanilov no longer part of the IKMF!

This news has come as a big shock to the IKMF community. The IKMF will continue to function with Avi Moyal (Chairman), Eli Ben-Ami (Head of testing committee) and Gabi Noah (Head Instructor) who are all top level Masters. They will continue to provide seminars, instructor courses and training for existing instructors worldwide and be supported by a team of global instructors.

New Krav Maga training for teenagers at KEEPSAFE Krav Maga!

KEEPSAFE is the only Krav Maga school offering training for children from the age of 6 onwards. And now to round off their programme, they will be introducing training for teenagers from the 8th of June 2010. It will start with one session a week and depending on demands they will be extending teenager training to twice a week.

On the 10th of January 2010, KEEPSAFE Krav Maga opened up its doors to adult training for the first time. The opening training was attended by 28 students eager to learn how to defend themselves.

Alwyn Dixon was the IKMF Director in the United Kingdom (UK) from 1996 to 2002.
He brought Krav Maga and Eyal Yanilov to the UK and organised the first ever Krav Maga instructor course in England in 1997.

What is your background in martial arts before Krav Maga?
My background in Martial Arts before Krav Maga was karate and boxing. I was an amateur with my local boxing club and loved every minute of it! I studied wadoryu with Suzuki and Meiji and shotokan with Oneida. To be truthful although I trained for quite a few years I didn't find the training challenging coming from a boxing background. I also didn't understand katas etc, nothing was explained as to why we were doing certain things and I couldn't get to grip with the sparring, which back in those days was the equivalent of "air guitar" playing! I understand things have changed a bit since then though.

Kim: Matthias, How did you find out about Krav
Maga?
I first found out about Krav Maga through a TV documentary about the work of bodyguards and the qualifications required to work in this field..
The people in the documentary were training Krav Maga and the instructors were wearing IKMF t-shirts. After watching that documentary I went on the internet and did a search on Krav Maga and the rest is history ;).
